Each Saturday join Ruth Ayres to share and celebrate events from your week.
I continue to be thankful for this writing community, the people like Ruth and so many others who I learn from each day, and the opportunities I have found to challenge myself as a writer. I would consider this a reason to celebrate!
To many of you who are avid readers, my celebration may seem quite small. Since school started on August 9th, reading has taken a back seat in my life. The education world seems to never stop, and I have found myself on a bit of roller coaster this year. But, this week I actually read two books and have started a third.
One night I even stayed up until 1:00 finishing Every Day After by Laura Golden. Snuggling under the covers in bed with my reading light on felt like old times. I am back in reading heaven! Now that I know I can get back to reading and still maintain my busy schedule, I can celebrate!
What a wonderful reason to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteI have tried to read little bit ever night, but usually I am too exhausted. Looking forward to the holidays.
I finished my first novel since school started this week too! And it felt really, really good! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI've heard Every Day After is very good, so good for you for finding a very good read & the snuggling too!
ReplyDeleteReading once school starts is difficult for me too! Most of what I read are professional books, which are important, but are not like reading fiction. I, too, am looking forward to a long Winter break this year to catch up. :)

Time to read for sheer pleasure is a worthy celebration! This community is a blessing to have tucked into a very busy life. Another cause for celebration.
ReplyDeleteA perfect celebration, Leigh Anne! I think it's easy to compare ourselves to everyone else and forget that what we do ourselves is enough. Your three books is plenty and three more than many other teachers this week. Thanks for taking the time to celebrate this week.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Ruth
My reading has completely slowed down since the start of the year as well. Glad you found time this week - hope I do again soon as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great celebration! I definitely understand this feeling. I have had a very slow reading life lately too. I am glad you found some time to read this week.
ReplyDeleteI spend most of the school year reading kid books which I love, but I started The End of Your Life Book Club on this trip. Like you, I'm in reading heaven again. Every Day After is in my WTR stack.
ReplyDeleteGreat celebration! I have also tried to get back into the groove of reading this year. Two co-worker friends and I have a little reading group going and I'm really enjoying it. We just finished Divergent and now I'm jumping into Insurgent. It kind of feels like going home again.
ReplyDeleteIt IS hard to keep up with personal reading. I LOVED Every Day After - it's one of my favorites this year!
