Two Writing Teachers |
It seemed as if I consistently ran out of day before my endless list was complete. How in the world would I ever find the time to write a post every...single...day in March when I am struggling with writing one every Tuesday!
My other doubt was how would I ever find thrity-one different ideas to write about?
Reading your blogs, I have learned that many of you "borrow" ideas from each other.
Yes, the lightbulb finally came on! Why can't I do that? I mean, isn't that mentor text at its finest!
OK, that problem is solved, but now another one. I read blogs anytime, anywhere...sometimes I even sneak a peak in the middle of the school day! How will I ever remember all of those ideas I read about when sometimes I can't even remember why I walk into a room? I always think, "Oh I'll remember that!" Wrong!

Another lightbulb moment - find a notebook!
I decided I needed to start keeping slice ideas in a separate notebook. After reading Terje's post last week, I knew I wanted a special notebook just for slices that was a reflection of me and my personality.
I knew I wanted it to be small enough to carry with me.
I knew I wanted it to express my personality.
So I am now "armed and ready" to start borrowing ideas, searching for those little nuggets that I can turn into a slice and collecting them in a special place. Hopefully, by March I will have so many ideas, finding the time to write is the only thing I will be searching for.
I carry a small notebook in my purse for those moments that I know will fade if I don't write them down. Anne Lamott says if you don't capture them when they come to you, someone else will :)
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you found a notebook that matches your blog. You are way ahead of me when it comes to getting ready for March. The first time I just jumped in. Now I have learned to collect ideas, get inspiration from others and also writing about the same topic or idea many times. Nevertheless, sometimes my head feels blank, then I write about how blank my head feels.
ReplyDeleteHooray for being ready - it's so wonderful how one opportunity leads to the next - you do find inspirations along the way.
ReplyDeleteI love that your notebook matches your blog design! It's perfect!! What a wonderful way to catch ideas! I'm sure once you start collecting ideas, you won't be able to stop!!
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to feature 31 different slicers' entries for inspiration this March. Therefore, if you ever run out of ideas, I'll always have something to help you.
ReplyDelete'Til then, I'm glad you borrowed from a writing colleague. I did that with Anita today!
Wonderful to find the green polka dot notebook, Leigh Anne. And you will find ideas all along the way. Once you get into the rhythm of "every day", it's not bad at all. In fact, it's quite a trip through March! Glad you're already planning to join us!
ReplyDeleteYou are one prepared lady! Some how the days fly by and somewhere a slice appears. During the month I will write up a couple of spare drafts that I can polish and publish when life gets in the way. My husband hates March because I have little time for anything but slicing and commenting.
ReplyDeleteArmed with a green notebook (with polka dots of course) already sounds like a story in itself. I want to know what you wrote on the first page? Do you doodle? Take notes? List words? Curiosity will be your friend during the writing challenge.By the way, I do like Elsie, I write a few drafts before March that I can use when life gets busy.
ReplyDeleteAwesome notebook ready to filled with your ideas and nudges.
ReplyDeleteYour notebook makes me smile. I looks like it is the perfect fit for you!
ReplyDeleteHappy writing,
Ruth
Love the green with white polka dots notebook! I agree, there are many super mentor texts right here in the TWT community. I've been known to "pin" a few to remember too. You are truly getting prepared! What makes the March challenge magical is that you learn there stories to be told -- slices -- every day! It's capturing and taking time to remember. You will be amazed at how your writing brain takes over and what you notice ever day. Until then, keep writing! It will be here before we know it and it will be an amazing writing and uplifting experience. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
