Today I am trying a riddle-ku which has the traditional 5-7-5 syllable count, but is written from the point of view of an object or animal. The reader tries to guess "what" has written the poem. Laura Purdie Salas is writing a riddle-ku a day for the month of April. Check out her site to get ideas and resources for teaching riddle-kus

A Pencil Sharpener
This is great! My students are loving the riddle-ku challenge. I should have them try to do one as well. Love your bird of pencil shavings!
ReplyDeleteOhhh!! That's a good one. I love Riddle-ku. Have you ever read the book Dogku? It tells a story of a day in the life of a dog, in haiku. Great format and I've had students write their own versions. :)
ReplyDeleteHow great is this, Leigh Anne. I'm glad you came by & told me what you were doing. Did you also create that little bird? So fun to see, of pencil shavings!
ReplyDeleteI'm following you, but through my feed...
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I love the bird and I get the point!! Great thing for students to try!
