Thank you Two Writing Teachers for creating this space for me to share my corner of the world.
I have read many posts about books that have shaped readers' lives and about readers' autobiographies. I would like to write a similar post, but I have been busy helping my son with a 10 page research paper.
I wrote a few days ago how parenting was hard. My parenting skills were tested this week, but the rough draft was submitted today - on time and I learned many lessons as a teacher. That will be a future post...but until then...I share a poem I found on Twitter last week. I think this shows the power of books!
Thank you for sharing this poem. I love reading books for these reasons and there is nothing more rewarding then finishing a book and feeling like you just walked away from a dear friend or a wonderful experience.
ReplyDeleteI love the poem! I'm glad your son's project got done as well.
ReplyDeleteLeigh Anne, as a parent we are committed to family first. In the past I thought that being a teacher was sometimes a difficult task when it involved me working with my own children. The poem is wonderful and reminds me of my childhood when books carried me to many different places.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to sharing this poem with my students. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE this poem! Thank you for sharing!! I'm glad the paper is done. Hope you enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat poem describes me perfectly when I'm lost in a book. Glad the son's draft was ready and on time. Sigh of relief!

ReplyDeleteOoohhh, those "family" research projects! A couple of years ago we spent an entire Thanksgiving weekend creating a museum room of a 19th century African American poet. At one point, my son asked if I was done building "That dollhouse?" Not even going to say what went through my head!
