January brought with it a true winter - cold temps, wind chill, snow, ice and the flu. During one winter storm a few weeks ago, ice made its debut. I don't like traveling on ice, but it sure creates some magical moments.
Here is one I share with you today and with Carol for her gallery.
Magical moments, indeed. Love your image and the breathless gasp.
ReplyDeleteA gasp for the still beauty of your poem and art.
ReplyDeleteMy dashboard said "icy roads ahead" twice today and there was none. I agree that the ice creates magical moments but then again it creates treacherous roads so I am thankful my dashboard did not get its signals right. Breathless gasp hits me every time I read your poem, Leigh Anne.
ReplyDeleteI'm gasping at the idea that a car can communicate "icy roads ahead!" Guess it wasn't featured on my 2004 model. lol
DeleteYes, a gasp of the clean, clear beautiful morning.
ReplyDeleteThat silvery white tree is gorgeous. I live in a tropical country, I am living winter vicariously through your poems! :)
ReplyDeleteBoth your poem and the photo are stunning. I have found myself gasping aloud at all of our icy beauty lately. How clever of you to incorporate that in your poem and to contrast it with that winter stillness! Love this!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! (Both image and poem!)
ReplyDeleteBreathless gasp-ahh! That's lovely.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, your header photo takes my breath away each time I hop onto your blog. Ahhhhh. The snow does have a way of absorbing all (most) sound, doesn't it? Oh how I love that morning silence.
ReplyDeleteStunning photo - and love the phrase, "stillness stifles." Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Leigh Anne! What a brilliant set up for that breathtaking ending.
ReplyDeleteI hate the damage ice can cause, but I do relish it's beauty. Your photo and poem capture its magic. Hope the flu has left you!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful combination, Leigh Anne. I especially liked your second and third lines.
