Spring Wanted #SOL20

What I Want
What I want is
A sign of spring
To wash away
Winter’s salt
What I want is
Longer days filled
With sunshine
To kiss the tips
Of the daffodils peaking
From beneath the frozen ground
To nudge the buds
From their winter nap
To fully awoke
tulip 1, tulip 2

I used the mentor poem "What I Want Is" from C.G. Hanzlicek to write this poem for a poetry challenge.

  1. I have checked this week’s weather and it looks like the mercury is rising higher (into the high 60’s) here. Of course, it won’t be consistently warm all week.
What is the forecast like by you?

  2. "Tulip 1, Tulip 2" is a perfect ending to your poem. I just saw a snowdrop today in MA and was so excited. Then I looked over and saw a patch of purple. There were crocus-sized blossoms scattered all over, but they looked just llike miniature irises. How lovely to see some spring color. Then I drove home to ME, lol! But actually, even here the green is pushing its tips through the cold ground. Spring's coming!

  3. When we came home from church this evening there were two robins in our yard. Definite sign of spring.

  4. I love this! My favorite part:
    "Longer days filled
    With sunshine
    To kiss the tips
    Of the daffodils peaking
    From beneath the frozen ground"
    ….A perfect description! :-) ~JudyK
