Celebrate Good Times, Come On! 6/21

It takes a whole community for a writer to be sustained ~ Ruth Ayres

Each Saturday  Ruth Ayres invites us to share and celebrate events, big or small, from our week.  After meeting her this week at All Write and listening to her keynote, this weekly celebration has taken on a new meaning for me.  I am certainly grateful to Ruth and to all of you who choose to celebrate with me.

I have so much to celebrate this week!

One - This week I attended All Write for the first time.  I plan to write more about this, but I celebrate meeting bloggers from this community.  I wish I would have been able to spend more time getting to know them better, but I feel blessed for the moments I did have.

Two - I celebrate the first day of summer!  I have been out of school since May 23rd and I have been going nonstop since.  I plan to write more about this too.  Today I was able to spend the afternoon at my sister's pool and enjoy the beautiful day - my first real day of summer!

Three - It is official!  This fall I will be teaching 6th grade reading and ELA at our middle school.  I celebrate my transfer to 6th grade.  I plan to write more about this too.  I will be teaching what I love the most to four times as many students.  THAT is a celebration!

As you can see, I have many stories to share in the coming days!

For this, I celebrate!

  1. Hi Leigh Ann, I've missed connecting with you. I know exactly what you mean about going non-stop. I've decided I must attend All Write next year. I'm excited to hear about your change in jobs too. I hope you enjoyed your day at your sister's house today. It sounds perfect. :)

  6. I'm sorry we didn't get to spend more time visiting, Leigh Anne, but it was a pleasure meeting you and your daughter. It is a great conference, isn't it? Happy Summer!

  8. All Write was amazing, wasn't it?? Ruth's keynote impacted me too. Congratulations on your new position. I just finished my 6th year in 4th grade and have often thought about moving up to middle school, but I love the age level of my kiddos so much. Thank you also for stopping by my blog. I was going to reply to your comment but you are a "no reply blogger," which means that your email doesn't show up. If you'd like to fix that, there's a great tutorial at http://ideasbyjivey.blogspot.com/p/no-reply-blogger-no-more.html. (She also has an awesome teaching blog!)

  9. Your celebrations are like teasers...I will definitely be back to read more! It was great to meet you and your daughter at All-Write. The switch to 6th grade is particularly exciting to me because that means we are both part of the middle school world now--collaboration and idea sharing are that much easier now!

  10. Leigh Anne - it was great to meet you - briefly - at All Write. So sorry we didn't get to connect more. And what a celebration - 6th grade and ELA? You will be perfect for that. Can't wait to learn more about this new position.
