About Me - Now and Then #sol17

I believe being a writer is one of the biggest gifts you can give to your students. ~ Stacey Shubitz

This month I am participating in the Slice of Life Story Challenge.  Thanks to Two Writing Teachers for creating a space for me to share my corner of the world.

As I was perusing Pinterest and looking for ideas before the challenge started, I found this one about me at my current age and me at an earlier age.  I chose to go back to when I was thirty-three, and what a difference twenty years makes!

At thirty-three, I was a stay-at-home mom, and becoming a teacher was not even on the radar.  My life revolved around a baby and pre-schooler, and now I am parenting young adults.  Those days my house was cleaner (only because I was home to clean it), I weighed a lot less (because I was chasing kids), and our meals were on the table at 5:15 (now we are lucky to even eat together!).

My life has certainly changed, but I am still me...now....and then.  And I am OK with that.

How has your life changed in twenty years?

  1. Oh I love this glimpse into your life then and now. And I love the idea for a slice as well. So much changes in twenty years... I hope you write a slice about how it was that you became a teacher. I bet there is a story there.

  4. It is funny how quickly 20 years can pass. Thanks for this glimpse into your life, and for the spark of an idea for a future post.

  5. Love your presentation, Leigh Anne & the content too. Twenty years ago I was well into the teaching end, one child married & the other starting her career. I loved that time in my life. Thanks for sharing this part of you!

  7. Oh, how our lives change! I like how you reflected upon Now/Then in terms of children and roles. I'm learning to embrace the 50s! The good, the bad, and the ugly. Ha.

  11. Great contrast to show how life changes. I used to think twenty years was a long time, now it passes like a blip on the radar.

  12. This is poignant. If I did this, my then and now would look a lot like yours, but I had my kids earlier so they are now older. Twenty years goes by in a flash!
