Kaleidoscope of Color #PoetryFriday

It's Poetry Friday, and Sally is hosting the round-up and sharing some terse verse with us.  Check it out!

This week I wrote a poem using the 15 words or less picture prompt from Laura Purdie Salas. This image is from artwork found in an airport!

It reminded me a little of stained glass and a kaleidoscope.  Here is my rough draft.

  1. How beautiful! I remember being absolutely enthralled by a kaleidoscope as a child, and struggling to reconcile the fact that I could see all those colours through the glass, but couldn't touch them - what a fascinating experience!

  5. I try to write to 15 words or less each week. I'm not good, though, at checking back and commenting. So I'm glad you shared your poem here. I saw a kaleidoscope, too. Your poem makes the picture come alive.

  6. I popped over here from Sally Murphy's site (hosting Poetry Friday this week) where the wallpaper is her looking through a kaleidoscope. What a coincidence. I like how your words "just beyond my reach" ends your poem with a bit of wistfulness.

  7. Beautiful! I've tried the 15 words or less prompt occasionally. I should get back in the habit of trying it each week. It's such good practice to think and write concisely.

  9. I love finding new art when I travel. This is wonderful, Leigh Anne, and the poem, a celebration (maybe) and a regret (changeable). Stating the feeling sometimes means it can change.

  10. I love where you took this prompt. Your ending line adds so much to the whole and sends me back to reread and ponder. I love when that happens!

  11. Gorgeous Leigh Anne! I haven't tried a 15 words or less. I love discovering new forms of poetry - as a newbie just trying the genre out, I get greatly inspired when I see a new form. Thanks for sharing!
