Two Students

Thank you Two Writing Teachers for creating this space for me to share my corner of the world.

I write this today with a heavy heart.  This weekend a former student of mine lost his battle with cancer.  He was in my very first class, and he is the second student from this class who I have lost in less than two years.

Two students
traveled different roads
yet similar paths

one took his own life
cancer took the other

Two students
looking in on a world

a world that was cruel
a world that was unfair

Two students
with so much to give
but such little time

to live
to love

  1. As a high schooler, I lost four classmates in the four years that I was attending. One suicide, one boat accident, and two health issues. I know what it did to me as a student - I can't imagine being an adult and experiencing it. Wishing you peace, love, and memories. <3

  2. Your sadness is palpable. A beautiful tribute.

  3. Your sadness is palpable. A beautiful tribute.

  4. So very sad...but a beautiful remembrance.

  5. Oh Leigh Anne, I'm so sorry. What a beautiful poem to share during this difficult time.

  6. Leigh Anne, I'll be lifting you up in prayer today. Offering peace and whatever else you might need.

  7. Leigh Anne, with a heavy heart that you wrote today. Life is uncertain and fragile.

  8. Oh Leigh Anne, I'm so so sorry! Losing a student is so painful. You are in my prayers. Sending a hug!!
