Celebrate Good Times, Come On! - #1

I am ever so grateful to Ruth Ayres for inviting us to share and celebrate events, big or small, from our week.

It has been almost a month since I have written a celebration post.  I hope to change that in 2015 because celebrating the small things is such a big thing.  After I reveal my one little word on Slice of Life Tuesday, my celebrations will take a slightly different turn.

But for today, I celebrate my grandma.  My grandma is 90 years old and has lived a hard life.  She has been divorced, raised six children on her own, and lost her youngest just a few years ago to cancer.  But my grandma is a trouper and I love "Granny-ma" dearly.

My grandma also has dementia and with each passing day, a little of her memory is being taken away.  I celebrate her and the Christmas we spent together as a family.  Looking ahead, I know in my heart it was a special one.

I also celebrate returning to school for a new semester.  I love new beginnings and there are so many things I want to do and change this second part of the year.  My daughter Megan will begin her student teaching on Monday too!  The anticipation of the return is building and I am excited for both of us.

Happy New Year everyone and may your year be filled with many celebrations!

  1. Oh how amazing to still have your grandmother with you! She sounds like such a strong and amazing woman! Your daughter is student teaching in your school?!?! That's awesome! My first long term sub job was in the same school with my mom and I taught for a couple of years in the same school as my sister. Working with family can be fun!! Best of luck to her!! (Oh and I'm going to try that book you recommended. I'll let you know. Thank you! You always give me the best recommendations!!)

I treasure my time with my grandparents, & want to be that for my grandchildren-it's the nicest relationship! Best wishes for 2015 & looking forward to hearing about your OLW!

  11. I can't wait to hear more about your's daughter's student teaching adventures! What grade will she be in?
An important, but tough celebration. I've always been very close with one of my grandmothers and it's hard to see them age.
I'm looking forward to seeing your Tuesday post!

  15. Certainly your celebration of your grandmother and your daughter is evidence of the circle of life. While they are at two very different points in life, both are special and worth celebrating.
