Books, Books, and More Books SOL #12

Can a person, especially a teacher, ever have too many books?

Absolutely, positively NO!

I thought you'd say that! I totally agree although my husband may not.

Where did you get all of those books?

We have a foundation in our district that awards grant money to teachers to spend in their classrooms each year. As long as we are a member, we can apply to get up to $500.

You can get anything you want for your classroom?

For the most part, yes, But I always get books, books, and more books.

These are some great titles!

I took titles from the lists of teachers I follow on social media. Many of these titles came from Colby Sharp. I get a lot of recommendations from him.

OH! The Night War. I love that series by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley.

Me too! I was on a panel with her at NCTE. She was a delight!

And Gordon Korman is one of my favorites!

My students love him!

The Probability of Everything was an amazing book!

Her second book is this stack too! I have heard a lot of good things about that one.

Which one are you going to read first?

Now, that is a very good question! Which one do YOU think I should read first?

Thank you to Two Writing Teachers for creating
a space for me and other teacher-writers to share our stories.

  1. Hi Leigh Anne! These title look great - the one I'd read first would be Thing You Can't Say - because I'm intrigued by the title. When i looked it up it's about father's suicide. Important topic but I need some light-hearted joy - so I'd go with Pizza Face. Thanks for the book pile. I'll be exploring them!

  3. My 4th graders LOVED Gordon Korman! I think I would start with Dear Student or Give and Take. I would always allot a majority of my faculty senate money to buy books for my classroom every year.

  4. You can NEVER have too many books and IF I ever really stopped to think about how much I have spent on books in my life, it would be SHOCKING!

  5. You can never have too many books! Books are my favorite purchases- for school or myself. That's why I started a LFL so I can pass books on to others.

  6. Books, books, and more books is my mantra! I think you recommended The Probability of Everything to me. So excited for you to have that money to spend on books. I keep my pile from NCTE next to my bed and have read two recently.

  7. Leigh Anne, what a wonderful pile of books. Of course, I would say the new Sarah Everett book is a first read. Shape of Lost Things. I wonder if it will be the same characters as her first book. I would be happy to see how Kemi and her family gets along. Another one that looks good is Simon Sort of Says. This was a clever idea for a post, and I agree to that emphatic NO, you can't have too many books.

Never too many books! I used to get all the books I could for my classroom library. I got a lot of ideas from Colby Sharp, too. I recognize authors in your stacks, but new titles. Guess I haven’t kept up since I retired! I want to read
    The Probability of Everything next.
