The Hunt #SOL19

I am participating in the Two Writing Teachers Annual March Slice of Life Story Challenge.

"I found one!"

"Where? Lemme see."

"I can't find one."

"Will you help me?"

"I found another one."

"This one has two!?"

"Can it have two?

"Mrs. Eck, can it have two?"

"Is this one?"

"No, that's not one!"

What were we doing today?  Well, going on a semicolon hunt. That's what!

  1. Amazing how that little semicolon can spark so many questions. Obviously, your students loved this exercise.

  2. This guy can do so much but is so misunderstood.

  3. I really like how you created a slice just from the dialogue of your students. And did you know that there is a whole book coming out this summer titled "Semicolon: The Past, Present, and Future of a Misunderstood Mark," by Cecelia Watson?

  4. I have never gotten a handle on the old semicolon. I really should challenge myself to use them more often!

  5. Ooooh, that's fun and I would love to know more! Was this sparked by a previous conversation? A realization that many students confuse colons and semicolons? So curious! They were definitely engaged.

  6. Sounds like your learners were focused and enjoying the activity!
